The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is strengthening its presence and assets in Lakshadweep and Minicoy islands.
ICG is building a new jetty at the Andrott island, which will enable it to position new and larger ships to keep an eye on the region.
They have also decided to build an air enclave at Minicoy and deploy aircraft and choppers for surveillance in the Arabian sea region. From here it will be able to monitor the the entire region nearby using its Dornier aircraft and ALH ( Advanced Light Helicopter) Dhruv choppers.
The Indian Coast Guard has already deployed its radars, ships, and coastal defence infrastructure for the protection of this area.
