IndiGo Expands Air Connectivity to Lakshadweep with New Bengaluru-Agatti Direct Flight

IndiGo, a leading airline in India, has announced the launch of a direct flight between Bengaluru and Agatti Island, bolstering air connectivity to the pristine Lakshadweep archipelago. Scheduled to commence operations on March 31, this service marks IndiGo's 88th domestic and 121st overall destination in its extensive network.

Utilizing ATR aircraft with approximately 78 seats, IndiGo aims to cater to the growing demand for travel to Agatti, known as the virtual gateway to Lakshadweep. This island paradise attracts visitors seeking various water sports activities such as deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, sailing, skiing, and kayaking.

Moreover, Agatti serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby uninhabited and serene isles like Bangaram, Pitti, Thinnakara, Parali-I, and Parali-II, enhancing the appeal of the destination.

The spotlight on Lakshadweep intensified after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit, during which he promoted it as a potential tourist hotspot for Indian travelers. However, derogatory comments made by three Maldivian Deputy Ministers against PM Modi sparked outrage among sections of the Indian populace, prompting a '#BoycottMaldives' campaign on online platforms.

Earlier this year, Alliance Air, the sole Indian carrier operating flights to Lakshadweep, introduced additional services on the Kochi-Agatti-Kochi route. These flights, operating twice a week on Sundays and Wednesdays, further contribute to enhancing accessibility to the picturesque Lakshadweep islands.

With these developments, travelers can now enjoy easier and more convenient access to the breathtaking beauty of Lakshadweep, opening up new avenues for tourism and exploration.
